Suspected drunk driver tries to flee following rollover crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are investigating after a suspected drunk driver went off the roadway in a Forest Hills neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Police were dispatched to Ashland Drive at Kingsbury Lane, off of Hillsboro Pike shortly before 5 a.m.

According to police, as the man approached Kingsbury Lane he went off the roadway and hit some bushes, causing his vehicle to overturn.

When first responders arrived, the driver attempted to run away.

Police were able to stop him and paramedics put him in an ambulance.

According to police, the driver claimed the vehicle was his brothers and he initially did not want anyone to contact police.

Investigators told Nashville's News 2 it appeared he was under the influence.

He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a police escort to be treated for a head injury and possible leg injury.

Police did not immediately say if what charges were pending.
