KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -
Knox County sheriff's deputies are searching for a driver who struck two children riding in a go-kart Sunday night and then fled the scene.
According to WATE-TV in Knoxville, the children were hit shortly before 8 p.m. at the corner of Henry Haynes Road and Babs Road.
Deputies say the children, a boy and girl, turned onto Babs Road when they were hit by a Nissan Sentra turning onto Henry Haynes Road. The driver of that car then drove off before officers arrived.
Both children were taken to the UT Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries. The boy was wearing a helmet, but the girl was not. Neither child was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the car is believed to be a man, but no other details have been released. Deputies say the car probably has a broken headlight and damage to the front driver's side bumper.
