28-year-old Murfreesboro police officer dies


A 28-year-old Murfreesboro police officer died Friday at his home in Manchester.

According to reports, Adam Pewitt, Jr. died of natural causes.

Pewitt joined the Murfreesboro Police Department in 2008 after serving four years in the U.S. Marines.

He will be fondly remembered as a devoted father and loving husband who worked hard to fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer to protect and serve other people.

Pewitt leaves behind a wife, Sarah, and four-year-old son, Connor.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Central Funeral Home in Manchester.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m.
