Goodlettsville police credit a senior citizen for the apprehension of two men caught stealing thousands of dollars worth of heavy storm grates.
Mark Anderson and Paul Chesney were arrested Monday afternoon and charged with theft and possession of burglary tools.
They are accused of stealing eight heavy storm grates and leaving behind open holes in the Ivy Hills subdivision of Goodlettsville.
Goodlettsville Police Chief Richard Pope told Nashville's News 2 authorities were able to catch the alleged bandits in the act thanks to a 76-year-old woman who saw Chesney and Anderson and called police.
Officers responded in less than a minute and caught the suspects as they were about the leave the neighborhood.
Police found the tailgate of the suspects' pickup truck filled with storm grates and burglary tools.
Chesney and Anderson were booked into the Metro jail.
Chief Pope said they are being looked at for similar thefts in neighboring jurisdictions.
