PORTLAND, Tenn. -

Portland police are working to identify a man who robbed a Papa John's Pizza on Wednesday night.

The incident was reported at the business located at 140 West Knight Street around 830 p.m.

Police said the man initially entered the pizzeria, spoke to employees before asking to use the restroom.

A short time later the suspect, who was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, is said to have re-entered Papa Johns and placed an order for a pizza.

While waiting for his food, the man approached the manager and demanded money.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect ordered the manager to stay in the back office and not to call police for 10 minutes before he fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard. He is around six feet tall and has a thin build.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 615-325-3434.
