Following a recent article on meat eaters turning to vegetarian options when dining out, Quorn Foods releases a statement on the news.
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) December 05, 2012
On December 5, 2012, Quorn Foods Inc. releases a statement following a Columbus Alive article by Justin McIntosh regarding meat eaters turning to meatless meals when dining.
According to the Columbus Alive article, “With meat consumption in the United States forecasted to be down 12 percent this year from 2007, you can’t simply point to vegetarians and vegans. Meatless dining has branched out to meat eaters.” The article states that meat eaters choosing meatless options are causing a slight decrease in meat-free dinner options at normally meat-heavy restaurants.
In the article meat eater Christine Rinehart states, “If it’s a really nice restaurant, I find the vegetarian meals are a little more creative. If it’s an average, middle of the road restaurant, sometimes I feel safer choosing a vegetarian option — and I’m not talking about a bad restaurant or a dirty restaurant.” The article mentions that most restaurants are not choosing vegetarian only menus due to lack of demand, however and omnivorous menu benefits vegetarians, while giving meat eaters the option of meat or veggie.
Quorn Foods Inc. stressed the importance and health benefits of meat eaters occasionally choosing a meatless meal. “There are many health benefits in limiting meat intake, such as heart health, and lower risk of diabetes and obesity,” says David Wilson, representative of Quorn Foods. “If you are a meat lover, but would like to eat healthier, you don’t have to compromise on taste. Quorn offers delicious meat substitutes that replicate the taste and texture of meat surprisingly well.”
Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat substitutes. Quorn offers a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
