Christmas goes to the dogs at 'My Sister's Closet'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

As millions are out Christmas shopping this year, two Green Hills businesses are asking shoppers to not forget about the furry friends in need.

At My Sister's Closet they have a giving tree. It's like an angel tree, but meant to help animals in need. While many may need a forever home, some just need a Frisbee or puppy food.

"We would love every animal to at least get one wish granted," said Lori Elam of Noah's Ark Society.

The animals need things like food, toys, scratching posts and money for vet visits. Some, still just want a play date with a fresh face.

Elam runs My Sister's Closet and Free Beer Consignment but her love for animals is where her heart hangs.

"This is the first time where I felt like I'm supposed to be, this is what Lori is supposed to be doing," Elam said.

For the past two days she has hosted "Paws on the Pavement" and is donating 100% of everything sold to Noah's Ark Society.

"We do more than just dogs," Elam said. "We do cats, horse, goats and donkeys.  We even had a little pig."

Shoppers were able to stock up on designer items for dollars from stores like Nordstrom's, Chanel, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana all while helping animals in need.

The puppies themselves may look cute under your tree, but they and their friends need necessities just to get by this holiday season.

With more than 80 animals hanging on the tree, Elam hopes the voiceless can be heard this season.
