Crews battle brush fire in Rutherford County

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. -

Crews in Rutherford County battled a six acre brush fire early Friday evening.

The fire was reported at Paw Paw Spring and Independent Hill roads.

Sheriff Robert Arnold told Nashville's News 2 the land consisted of undergrowth with lots of leaves.

He added a potential danger existed because a pipeline was located in the direction the blaze was headed.

The land's owner, Donald Powell, was issued a citation for burning without a permit.

No additional information was released.
