NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A longtime patient of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt donated more than a 2,100 DVDs to the hospital on Friday.

Hannah Huth began the non-profit organization Looking Ahead 4 Kids, Inc. as a way to give back to patients who need something simple and relaxing to do while they are in the hospital.

Huth told Nashville's News 2 as a longtime Vanderbilt patient she knows first hand what it is like to be sick and not be able to get out of bed.

"I've had four surgeries here and so I know what it is like to be in the hospital and not really have to much to do," she explained, adding, "I want to give kids a chance to get their illness off their minds and have something to do while they are in such a tough situation."

The 15-year-old was first diagnosed with her first non-cancerous brain tumor when she was just three years old. She underwent a craniotomy.

Since her diagnosis Huth has undergo multiple MRIs and additional medical treatment at the hospital.

"When I was there, I saw many children who did not have family or relatives there by their side," she said. "These children had nothing to do but sit there and think about their illness, and I want to give them something fun and relaxing to do."

All of the DVDs donated were collected from local schools in the Nashville area. Hospital staff told Nashville's News 2 they are thankful for Huth and all of the donations.

"Part of the healing is the emotional and developmental care so donations like movies and toys and activities help up to normalize a child's health care experience," said Director of Volunteers Services Stephanie Van Dyke.
