Lawton Williams, 19, was arrested Wednesday.
Laron Owens, 18, was shot November 20 and died a few hours later.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Metro police arrested a 19-year-old convicted felon for the shooting death of an 18-year-old man during a robbery attempt last week.
Lawton Williams was taken into custody at his Woodridge Drive home on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said he opened fire on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am on November 20, striking passengers Laron Owens and Derryen Doss.
Both men were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Owens died. Doss, 22, has since been treated and released.
Police determined in their investigation that at some point prior to the shooting, Williams was also a passenger in the vehicle.
Williams is charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.
In September of 2011, Williams received two three-year concurrent suspended sentences for aggravated burglary and felony theft, police said.
