Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer Wednesday morning on Highway 109 at Academy Road in Wilson County.
The crash was reported northwest of Lebanon around 7 a.m.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a car driven by 19-year-old Maximillio Macheca pulled out in front of a semi-truck that was traveling north and the two vehicles collided.
The impact sent Macheca's car into the southbound lanes where it was struck by a car driven by Diane Cothran.
Macheca, of Lebanon, was seriously injured and taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
His passenger, 20-year-old Grant Jones, also of Lebanon, was also injured, as was Cothran, 66, of Lebanon. Both were taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt.
The driver of the semi-truck, 29-year-old John Elmore, of Morgantown, Kentucky, was uninjured.
The tractor trailer was not significantly damaged and crews were able to quickly clear the scene.
"We were able to clear the roadway very quickly this morning," Trooper Mike Baker explained, "the tractor trailer wasn't disabled enough where we were able to move the tractor trailer off the road, with its own power, and that helped us open the road quick."
It was not immediately clear if charges would be filed.
