CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
An 86-year-old Kentucky woman died after a violent crash Saturday in Clarksville.
According to Clarksville police, Evelyn Ray was traveling north on Old Farmers Road when she failed to yield to another car when crossing Highway 76.
The other vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Maurice Pitts, hit Ray's vehicle in the driver's side door.
The accident report shows that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, but there was no sign of braking from either vehicle.
Ray was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by helicopter where she died from her injuries.
Pitts was also transported to the hospital and is recovering from multiple leg fractures.
Clarksville police said the crash is the 15th fatal crash in the city this year.
