What are the top apps for Black Friday shopping?

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

As Black Friday quickly approaches, shoppers are planning out their strategies so they can take advantage of the best possible deals.

This year in addition to pouring over newspaper ads, many shoppers will also be armed with their smart phones and tablets.

Nashville's News 2 spent time on Thursday determining the top apps for shoppers who plan to face the crowds for Black Friday shopping.

1:  TGI Black Friday is easily the most popular Black Friday app in both Google's play market and Apple's App Store.

Users can filter searches by item, store and hot deals. The app is comprehensive, listing nearly every retailer with Black Friday sales.

TGI Black Friday also allows users to create shopping lists.

2:  Shopular is simple and easy to use. The app shows practically all of the sales circulars just as they appear as newspaper inserts.

The app also highlights deals that are ending soon and 'hot'.

3:  Google Maps is another popular app. Google updated its popular map to include floor plans of selected shopping malls.

Just as it does for driving, the updated Google maps do for shopping. Zoom in to the mall of your choice and you can see a floor plan listing all of the stores inside.

The app will also track your movement, using Google Latitude, which is helpful to keep up with friends while shopping.

4: Store apps are also beginning to release their own mobile apps.

Walmart and Macy's new apps include store maps and sales where shoppers can see exactly where the items are in the store.

All of these apps are available for the iPhone and Androids.
