MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - High school seniors planning to attend Middle Tennessee State University next year should apply for academic scholarships by Dec. 1 to get first priority.
Director of Recruiting Melinda Thomas said in a news release that many students do not realize that there are thousands of dollars available every year, and they miss the Dec. 1 deadline.
Freshman scholarships include the Buchanan Fellowship for top scholars. Other scholarships range from $1,000 for International Baccalaureate to $6,000 for National Merit/Achievement. The awards for these scholarships primarily are based on grade point averages and ACT/SAT scores.
In general, department scholarships for music, ROTC and athletics have a Feb. 15 deadline, but they can vary.
