NEW YORK -

Over the weekend, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts revealed to fans that she returned home Friday night after a brief stay at the hospital last week nearly two months after receiving a bone marrow transplant.

According to ABC News, Roberts was hospitalized for a latent virus that was not responding to medication.

"Our immune systems usually take care of a virus like this, but mine is only 59 days old," Roberts said.

Roberts went on to say despite feeling fine physically, the short hospital stay took an emotional toll on her.

"The wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff lifted my spirits. It was comforting seeing them again," Roberts wrote. "They assured me the majority of BMT patients have to be re-admitted to the hospital for various reasons."

Roberts underwent a bone marrow transplant at the end of September to treat MDS, a disease of the blood and bone marrow that often attacks cancer survivors.

It remains unclear when she will return to the morning news show.
