Teen fatally shot, homeowner says home broken into


MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A 16-year-old boy has been fatally shot in Memphis, and police say a homeowner reporting firing on the teen when his house was broken into.

Police said the 41-year-old man told officers the teen and two other people broke into his home around 11 a.m. EST Friday and that he shot the 16-year-old.

Police said the teen ran from the home and officers located him lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Two suspects were taken into custody, and the case remained under investigation.
