MARION COUNTY, Ky. -
A sheriff's deputy was killed in an early morning shooting Wednesday in Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police said Marion County Deputy Anthony Raikes was shot after making a traffic stop.
According to Lexington station WKYT, he later died during surgery at a local hospital.
The suspect, Dewayne Shipp, 49, was caught overnight by state police in Campbellsville. He was taken to an area hospital to be treated for a leg injury.
Deputy Raikes had been with the Marion County Sheriff's Department for six years.
