Johnny Brooks, 51, was charged with his sixth DUI Friday night in Murfreesboro.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -
Murfreesboro police charged a Nashville man with his sixth DUI late Friday night.
Johnny Brooks was initially pulled over by police after he pulled out directly in front of a patrol car on South Rutherford Boulevard, causing the officer to slow down rapidly in order to avoid a collision.
Arresting officers reported the 51-year-old man smelled of alcohol and had glassy, blood shot eyes, as well as slurred speech.
Police said Brooks was unable to perform a field sobriety test and at one point had to brace himself on his vehicle to keep from falling.
Brooks admitted to police he had been drinking prior to his arrest.
At the time of his arrest, Brooks was driving on a revoked license.
He has five previous DUI charges dating back to 2002.
Brooks is charged with driving under the influence, among other charges.
