NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a pickup in west Nashville on Saturday.

Police told Nashville's News 2 the pickup was traveling outbound on Charlotte Pike when the driver started to turn left near the intersection of Davidson Drive. The driver then struck the motorcycle driven by Larry Aldrich, 54, of Pond Creek Road in Pegram.

Aldrich was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The driver of the pickup truck, Bobbie Cabknor, 60, told officers he didn't see the motorcycle until after the crash. There are signs at the driveway exit that state no left turns.

The contributing factors of the accident are improper turn and failure to yield, authorities said.

Metro's fatal team worked the scene.

Currently, there are no charges pending investigation.
