Bridgestone Arena nominated for 2012 Arena of the Year Award
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The arena at 501 Broadway announced on Friday the venue has been nominated for the sixth consecutive time to be the Arena of the Year.
Making it the arena's ninth overall nomination, Bridgestone Arena has played host to countless Nashville Predators games as well as the 46th annual CMA Awards and concerts such as Carrie Underwood, James Taylor and Jason Mraz.
The nomination comes from Pollstar Magazine, who also nominated Bridgestone Arena's David Kells for Facility Executive of the Year. Kells has been with the arena since 2005.
"We are equally proud and humbled by this sixth consecutive nomination for Pollstar's Arena of the Year Award," Bridgestone Arena COO Sean Henry said in a release. "We take a lot of pride in keeping this arena at the forefront of the industry, from the quality of shows that take the stage and the number of fans who walk through the doors to the world-class experience we provide for all our guests, performers, players and employees."
Henry continued saying Kells was an irreplaceable member of the Bridgestone Arena team.
"Each time we are recognized by our peers," Henry said, "individually or as an organization, we close in on our ultimate goal of becoming the Number One venue in the country."
Five other arenas in the country were nominated including the BOK Center in Oklahoma City, the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Madison Square Garden in New York, the Staples Center in L.A. and the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Bridgestone still has several events planned for the remainder of the year including the Grammy Nominations Concert, Bassnectar on New Year's Eve and a show featuring legendary rock group The Who.
Bridgestone Arena was named the sixth-busiest building in the U.S. by Pollstar Magazine in 2010 and 2011 and has been a finalist for their Concert Industry Arena of the Year Award in each of the past six years.
The 24th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards Ceremony will take place on February 7, during the Pollstar Live! Awards Party at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.
