NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The first round of the Battle of the Boulevard ended with a resounding Belmont knockout.
Behind 22 points and 7 assists from point guard Kerron Johnson the Bruins embarrassed Lipscomb on the Bisons' home floor 89-60 Friday night.
Johnson led the way, but all five Belmont starters scored in double figures, including senior Ian Clark who had 19 points.
Belmont shot 50% for the game, 40% from three point range as they dropped in 11 from long range.
Deonte Alexander led Lipscomb with 14 points.
It was the season opener for both teams and it was a non-conference game with Belmont leaving the Atlantic Sun for the Ohio Valley Conference this season.
The two teams will meet again this season at Belmont's Curb Event Center.
