Police arrested a local daycare worker after she allegedly broke a child's arm.
The incident was reported November 2 at Rock Springs Academy in Smyrna.
During their investigation, Smyrna police and the Tennessee Department of Children's Services determined Carla Hougland, 39, of La Vergne, physically harmed a three-year-old girl by picking her up by the arm and placing her on a mat.
The child's arm was broken as a result.
Hougland was arrested and charged with child abuse.
She is scheduled to appear in court on January 29.
