Man accused of shooting officer released from hospital, jailed

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

An 18-year-old accused of shooting at two Metro police officers is now jailed following his release from the hospital Tuesday evening.

Eric Perkins opened fire on officers Faye Denson and Carroll Fondaw in east Nashville following a routine traffic stop Monday morning.

Denson, 44, a seven-year veteran of the Metro Police Department, suffered a gunshot wound to her leg after a short chase.

She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was treated and released.

Fondaw was uninjured.
 
Perkins also suffered a gunshot wound in the incident and was treated at Vanderbilt.

He was booked into the Metro jail on a $700,000 bond.
