Former church volunteer indicted on 16 child sex counts
Brian "Lance" Mitchell is charged with molesting a 10-year-old boy in 2007.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A former church volunteer who police say sexually molested a male juvenile who attended services at the church has been indicted by a Davidson County grand jury.
Brian "Lance" Mitchell faces 16 counts of child sex crimes.
The 30-year-old arrested in May and admitted to fondling the then 10-year-old boy in 2007.
Mitchell, a sound engineer, was contracted to run the soundboard at Cornerstone Church in Madison. The boy was in the church's children's ministry at the time.
In an interview following his arrest, Mitchell told police that he believed the victim had fallen asleep when he began rubbing the victim's buttocks for several minutes during which time he got an erection.
Police launched an investigation earlier this year after the boy saw Mitchell at a church function and recounted what had happened five years earlier.
