NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Congressman Jim Cooper was re-elected to represent the 5th Congressional District on Tuesday night, defeating opponent Brad Staats.

"I am humbled by the support from voters across Middle Tennessee. A lot of tough decisions will need to be made in the next Congress. I appreciate the voters' confidence in me to make those decisions," Cooper said.

The 5th District represents all of Davidson and Dickson counties, as well as most of Cheatham County.
