CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
An elderly woman was killed in a house fire Monday night in Clarksville.
The alarm came in shortly after 11 p.m. at the home on Trahern Terrace.
Emergency personnel were on scene within three minutes and the house was already engulfed in flames.
Firefighters entered the residence and found an 80-year-old woman, Carolyn Hinton, inside and nonresponsive.
She was removed, immediately received medical attention, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. Hinton died at scene.
The source and cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Hinton's body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Nashville to determine the cause of death.
