Squirrel disrupts power at MTSU

Crews are working to restore power on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro Monday morning after a squirrel caused a transformer to malfunction.

Andrew Oppmann, a spokesperson for MTSU, said the university remains open and on normal schedule.

Officials said it may be 9:30 a.m. or later before full power is restored.

The outage has interrupted phone and email service to and from the campus, as well as the university's Web sites.

Additional information was not released.
