Metro police said a vehicle on Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a convicted drug dealer and seizure of 45 grams of cocaine and thousands of dollars in cash. Officers stopped 32-year-old Marcus Stanton after he ran a stop sign near his home in the 3200 block of Mexico Drive. Upon approaching Stanton's vehicle, police detected a strong odor of marijuana. During a vehicle search, officers discovered baggies containing marijuana and cocaine residue, as well as $5,500 in cash. After receiving a search warrant for Stanton's residence, officers recovered 45 grams of cocaine and two digital scales. Stanton was transported to an area hospital after he told police he had ingested marijuana. He will be charged upon his release. Police said Stanton was sentenced to six years of jail time in 2010 for felony marijuana possession, as well as two previous cocaine possession convictions.
