MT. JULIET, Tenn. -
The woman found shot to death Thursday morning in the parking lot of a storage facility in Mt. Juliet has been identified as 35-year-old Sara McPherson.
An officer on patrol shortly after 1 a.m. discovered McPherson's body in a parked vehicle at the U-Store-It off Central Pike near South Mt. Juliet Road.
Police Friday said an autopsy performed confirmed McPherson's death was a result of gunshot trauma.
Investigators believe she was killed sometime after 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
McPherson was a resident of Mt. Juliet. She was not an employee of the storage facility, and there is no indication she was looking at a storage unit.
Investigators believe McPherson was targeted and said there is no danger to the public.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have had contact with McPherson in recent days to call the Mt. Juliet Police Department at 615-754-2550.
Information can also be given anonymously by calling 615-754-TIPS (8477) or via the Mt. Juliet Police Department's Web site.
