Cool Springs, Rivergate Mall to open at Midnight on Black Friday

Posted:
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

For the first time ever, Cool Springs Galleria and Rivergate Mall will open their doors at Midnight on Black Friday.

Mall officials told Nashville's News 2 the change comes after shoppers and store owners requested earlier shopping hours.

"Last year the mall opened at I believe 4 a.m. We did allow stores to open at Midnight if they wanted and the stores that did open at Midnight saw a lot of traffic," Melissa Asman of Cool Springs Galleria said.

The hope in the early morning opening is to attract customers who may be shopping at other retailers.

"A lot of the [chain stores] open on Thanksgiving Day, so they are already out shopping," Asman said. "Every year it gets earlier and earlier and we wanted to be part of the excitement as early as we could."

Several retailers told Nashville's News 2 despite the long hours on Black Friday, it is worth opening at Midnight.

"That's when most people do most of their Christmas shopping when there are all of the big sales [taking place]. It is going to be super crazy here," one shopper predicted.

Despite already a few Christmas decorations in place, Cool Springs is expected to completely transform the mall in upcoming days to reflect the holiday spirit.
