A former Rutherford County sheriff's detective involved in a fatal crash four years ago is now facing new charges.
Ron Killings is accused of assaulting his girlfriend earlier this week.
The woman told police Killings hit and choked her more than 20 times while questioning her about text messages she had received.
According to the police report, at one point, the victim's 15-year-old daughter walked outside and witnessed the assault.
Killings also threatened the woman, telling her he would "snap her neck," the report stated.
Killings was involved in a crash that claimed the life of 11-year-old Lakeisha White in July of 2008.
The then-detective hit the young girl as she crossed Bradyville Pike in Murfreesboro.
He was charged with reckless homicide but acquitted two years later.
