60th annual BMI Awards honors country music's best songwriters

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The 60th annual BMI Country Awards was held in downtown Nashville on Tuesday night.

The annual show honors the songwriters and publishers of the top BMI country songs from the past year.

Songwriter Tom T. Hall was honored with the BMI Icon award.

Each year, the award is given to songwriters who have a unique influence on generations of music.

Past honorees include Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Dolly Parton among others.

The invitation only ceremony was held at BMI's Music Row offices.
