NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A 19-year-old was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon at a home located at 1630 Chase Street in east Nashville.

The call went out just after Noon.

Police spokesperson Kristin Mumford said the victim, later identified as Alajawon Dillard of Porter Road, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to his chest.

The shooter, 32-year-old William Davis, reported that he heard a knock at the door of his girlfriend's residence and was greeted by Dillard, armed with a pistol.

Davis, who was also armed, shot at Dillard, before fleeing into the street and collapsing a short distance away.

Both guns were recovered by police at the scene; however police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.

Dillard is a convicted armed robber who received a three-year mostly probated sentence in April of this year.

Davis was convicted of felony marijuana possession in January 2011 and received a one-year probated sentence.
