Firefighters had to rescue someone trapped in a vehicle after a pin-in accident in the Priest Lake area Tuesday morning.
The incident was reported around 6:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Bluewater Drive between Brantely and Moss Spring drives.
Firefighters reportedly had to cut out a passenger trapped inside a vehicle after the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.
According to police, the driver of a blue Dodge Stratus was traveling along the roadway when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and hit a mailbox in the 500 block of Bluewater Drive.
The driver continued on around two curves before he left the roadway again at a high rate of speed and came to a rest when he hit the drive.
The driver was able to escape the vehicle but firefighters had to cut off the driver's side door to rescue the passenger.
It took approximately 10 minutes for crews to get him out of the vehicle.
The passenger was taken to an area hospital to be treated for critical, but non-life threatening injuries, including a broken leg.
The driver was sent to the hospital for minor cuts and bruises.
Debris was scattered 40 to 50 feet from the crash site.
Officials did not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, but plan to investigate further.
