OLD HICKORY, Tenn. -
Crews battled a small kitchen fire at a home in Old Hickory early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to the house fire in the 100 block of Ensley Avenue off of Bridgeway Avenue around 12:45 a.m.
Three adults and one child with special needs were home at the time of the fire.
Authorities told Nashville's News 2 the father awoke to smoke in the house and alerted the family.
No injuries were reported, however, the child was transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
Crews quickly had the fire contained.
There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.
Officials said the smoke detectors were not working at the time of the incident.
