A missing woman from Cannon County was discovered dead in a crashed car, submerged inside an area river early Monday morning, more than 12 hours after she was reported missing. According to a report in the Daily News Journal, authorities found Kathy Irvin's 2009 Chevrolet Malibu partially submerged in the Stones River just after 3 a.m. The 60-year-old woman was reported missing at 1 p.m. Sunday. Rutherford County Fire and Rescue Chief Larry Farley told the newspaper family members contacted Irvin's cell phone provider in an effort to locate her cell phone. Authorities believe Irvin was traveling on East County Farm Road when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and down an embankment before going into the river. Irvin was the only occupant in the vehicle and was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident. Investigators are working to determine if she could have suffered a medical emergency before the incident. *The Daily News Journal contributed to this report.
