NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A burglary suspect was arrested after a downtown business break-in overnight Sunday.

The front desk manager at the Best Western hotel on Union Street contacted police after he heard a loud crash at the market next door.

According to an affidavit, the manager peaked into the 7th and Union Market, saw a black male behind the counter and immediately alerted two officers in the area.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Jeffery Peterkin, fled the scene and jumped over a fence and into a nearby construction area in an attempt to hide from officers.

He was taken into custody a short time later.

Peterkin was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, resisting and evading arrest and criminal trespassing and booked into the Metro jail on a $25,000 bond.
