Man arrested on 6 counts of statutory rape

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. -

A Lawrenceburg man is in jail after being arrested on six counts of aggravated statutory rape.

According to the Lawrenceburg Police Department, 45-year-old George Edward Staggs was indicted by a grand jury on Friday after an investigation showed he had an unlawful sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Staggs is currently in the Lawrence County Jail with a $60,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on December 10.
