NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Nearly 3,000 people were without power in south Nashville early Friday morning after the top of a utility pole broke off and fell to the ground.

The outage was reported just after 2 a.m. and affected homes north of Harding Place near Antioch Pike in south Nashville.



Officials told Nashville's News 2 the top of a utility pole fell down and brought the wires with it.



The pole is located at McGavock Pike and Currey Road, not far from the Nashville International Airport.

Officials did not immediately say what caused the pole to fall.

Power was restored to most of the area shortly after 5 a.m.
