Gary Goodwin named Goodlettsville's new chief of police
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. -
Gary Goodwin was named the new chief of police of Goodlettsville on Thursday.
Goodwin's selection came after a four month search process done by the Middle Tennessee city.
"I believe that we have found in Gary a Chief of Police that not only has the professional qualifications, but the personal attributes, demeanor, interests, and community spirit that will make him an excellent fit for this very important position in Goodlettsville," said Goodlettsville City Manager Tim Ellis.
Goodwin is currently a captain with the Nashville Police Department where he is with the Operations Bureau and serves as executive officer.
Officials said 81 applicants from across the country applied for the position.
Goodwin has more than 37 years of on-the-job experience.
