Decommissioned officer fired following assault charge - WKRN, Nashville News, Nashville Weather and Sports

Metro police said an officer who was decommissioned earlier this year due to an incident involving his 29-year-old girlfriend has been fired.

Brandon Smith was arrested on May 6 for a misdemeanor domestic assault charge.

Smith's girlfriend alleged he struck her in the face during an argument at his south Nashville apartment.

Smith was a four-year police department veteran.

The domestic assault case against him is still pending in court.
