NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A White House infant who spent his entire life in the hospital and finally went home last week has suffered a setback.
Eight-month-old Andrew Hagewood was admitted back into the ICU at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital over the weekend because of some problems with his breathing, according to family members.
"In the back of your mind you know there is that great possibility that you will be back. We were hoping for a greater span of time period before coming back to the hospital," said Keith Hagewood, Andrew's father.
Andrew has had many ups and downs since receiving a life-saving heart transplant last spring. In February, the child was born with a rare heart condition and had been hospitalized ever since.
Last week, the family took Andrew home to White House for the first time where they were greeted by community supporters.
Thousands of t-shirts have been sold to help the Hagewood family pay for medical expenses.
Family members say Andrew will likely be hospitalized through the end of the week.
