Shooting breaks up Clarksville house party, leaves 2 injured

Clarksville police are still trying to figure out what happened at a house party that led to a shooting that injured two people.

Police responded to the sound of gunfire around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning near the 400 block of North Second Street.

Upon arrival, police found a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman with gunshot wounds.  The man was shot in the ribs and taken to Nashville by helicopter.  He was last listed in stable condition.

The female victim was shot in the knee and also taken to Nashville where she was also listed in stable condition.

Police still aren't sure what led to the shooting, but have determined there were multiple verbal and physical altercations that took place during the party.

When the confrontations went outside the home, shots were fired at the residence from across the street.

Witnesses told police men were shooting toward the residence but quickly left the scene in different vehicles.

Clarksville police founds shell casings in the area and have questioned and detained six people.  Now, officers are focusing on several other leads.
