NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A driver was arrested following a hit-and-run crash involving a Metro school bus Friday afternoon in south Nashville.

The accident happened just before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Bell Road.

Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron said the bus was traveling inbound on Murfreesboro Pike at the time.

There were nine special needs students on board the bus. No one was injured.

Witnesses said the driver who hit the school bus kept driving. An officer caught up with him in front of the Kmart store located on Murfreesboro Pike at Edge-O-Lake Drive.

The driver, 27-year-old Charles Higginbotham, was taken into custody without incident.

He faces charges of driving on a revoked license and failure to appear in court on a previously issued citation for driving on a revoked license.
