COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -
A 19-year-old man said he stole hundreds of dollars of merchandise from a Cookeville Walmart on Tuesday in an effort to pay off a bet he placed on Saturday's UT game.
According to the Herald Citizen, Brandon Henry entered the retailer and stole several items including a flat screen television, a vacuum cleaner, a Blu-ray player and a pair of pajama pants.
Henry was then seen placing the items into a blue vehicle which was later determined to be registered to 21-year-old Latisha Lamson.
Both were taken into police custody on Wednesday night.
During a police interview, Henry said he gave the stolen TV and Blu-ray player to a subject he owed $150 to for losing a bet.
Henry is also alleged to have told officers he stole the vacuum cleaner for a friend's wife because she wanted one.
Henry and Lamson are both charged with theft.
The pair was booked into the Putnam County jail on a $5,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on November 5.
