NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - State health officials say fewer than 75 facilities in Tennessee received drugs from the Massachusetts pharmacy linked to a deadly outbreak of fungal meningitis.
On Monday, the Food and Drug Administration announced that it was investigating several new products from the New England Compounding Center, including drugs used in some eye surgeries and heart surgeries after May 21.
None of these products should have been in use in Tennessee after Oct. 4.
A spokesman for the Health Department said on Tuesday that officials are still working to identify which Tennessee facilities received the newly suspect drugs.
A suspect injectable steroid from the New England Compounding Center was distributed to three clinics in Tennessee. So far 59 patients have been sickened here and six have died.
