Police said an eight-year-old boy found his parents dead inside their Smyrna home early Saturday morning.
Authorities said the child ran to a neighbor's house with a handgun and alerted them of the discovery just after 6:40 a.m.
There were two other children in the home on Bolton Drive when police arrived.
Investigators said they found the bodies of 34-year-old Sharon Forbes and 37-year old Adytia Ramotar.
Police have concluded that Romatar shot and killed Forbes before turning the weapon on himself.
Forbes' sister also lived in the home, but was not there at the time of the murders.
She placed one of the frantic calls to 911.
"I just called home and my nephew answered the phone and said that he found a gun next to his dad and his mom is not moving," she told the dispatcher. "He's trying to wake her up but she's not moving."
According to police, the couple was divorced, but had recently reconciled.
Neighbors said the family rented the home and had lived there for less than two months.
The three children, two being biological children of the victims and the other a nephew of couple, are in the care of family members.
