Man wanted for trying to abduct 12-year-old girl

Metro police are continuing to look for a man who tried to abduct a 12-year-old girl near an Old Hickory business late Friday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. at a business located in the 3600 block of Old Hickory Boulevard.

Witnesses reported the suspect followed the victim and her two friends inside a store where he purchased cigarettes.

As the three girls left the store, he reportedly asked them what time it was.

After telling him the time, the suspect grabbed the victim and attempted to pull her behind the building.

A store clerk ran outside and yelled at the man to let her go.

The man complied before fleeing the scene on foot.

The girl was unharmed.

Police said the man is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. He has brown hair and is around five feet, eight inches tall with a thin build.

At the time of the incident he was wearing red shorts and a gray t-shirt. He was also carrying a Dollar General Store bag.

Anyone with information on the man's identity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
