OLD HICKORY, Tenn. -
A 73-year-old woman was killed after colliding with a van in Old Hickory Wednesday morning.
The accident happened just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Hickory Industrial Drive near Ellers Golf Course.
According to police, Janice Farr had just dropped her son off for work at the Riverside Golf Center and attempted to turn left onto Old Hickory Boulevard when she was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Express van.
Farr was not wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene.
Neither the driver of the van, 52-year-old George Straughn, nor his passenger was injured.
From their preliminary investigation, police said it appeared Farr was at fault.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.
A stretch of Old Hickory Boulevard was shutdown for several hours while crews investigated.
The road reopened around 9 a.m.
