The Nashville Electric Service announced on Monday the north Nashville office located on Monroe Street will close at the end of the year.
"We've given a great deal of thought to the decision to close our north Nashville bill-payment office," said NES President and CEO Decosta Jenkins.
Jenkins continued, "The rent and financial costs involved with keeping it open are significant, especially considering that the location gets little to no traffic on most days."
The CEO added that employees working at the Monroe Street location will be transferred to the nearby main office on Church Street.
Officials said they hope to install a bill-payment kiosk at the Monroe Street location in the near future.
"It's important for us to provide our customers with easy ways to communicate with us and pay their bills," Jenkins said. "We want our North Nashville location customers to know we are committed to providing them with convenient ways to pay their bills, whether it's through our main office, bill-pay kiosks, E-bill program or mobile site."
